Need help with deciding program/university
Basically the title. I’ve gotten into the following programs with a 97-ish? average:
- UBC Vancouver Bachelor in Applied Science (June 1st deadline)
- Waterloo Honours Biomedical Engineering (with co-op) (June 1st deadline)
- McMaster iBioMed 1 (with co-op) [currently accepted]
- McGill Bioengineering (offer expired)
- uOttawa Biomedical Mechanical Eng (offer expired)
- Ontario Tech Biomedical Sciences (offer expired)
I’m still waiting on UofT to get into EngSci (I got waitlisted). The decision is really between UBC, UofT, Waterloo and McMaster. I didn’t wanna go to McGill because it’s supposedly a LOT of French despite being a bilingual university, which could hinder my work opportunities (unless I’ve been misinformed, please do tell me if I have been, I could talk to the admissions office and probably get my admission extended). uOttawa and Ontario Tech were my safeties.
I applied for biomedical engineering on a whim, thinking “oh you get to learn physics, chem and bio? sweet!”. I was NOT expecting to get in anywhere since I had just moved to Canada last year. I’m not even sure if I wanna do BioMed anymore; the courses look like I won’t learn a lot of physics as in-depth as I want to, aerospace has kinda caught my eye and I’m just overall a bit confused. I want to go into academia, participate in contests, do cool research and physics, but I also want to work, get a co-op term, earn money, and enjoy my life in wherever I’m going for the next 4 years. A substantial factor is also whether or not there’s a decent amount of stuff to do in whatever city it is that I‘m going to; I’m currently living in a small town in Manitoba and there isn‘t much to do, I effectively speedran this place in half a year lol.
People who are going to any of these universities/have an opinion on these programs or anything of the sort, please tell me your logic behind it. Which one would you choose, and why? I’m willing to answer any questions necessary.
