Is there such thing as too much supervision?
Hi! A little background about me, I’ve been in the aba field for 6 years across 2 different states and an rbt for 3 of those years. I recently started at this new company that has virtual Bcba’s (I’ve had virtual at the last company I was at as well) one of my Bcba’s has supervised me during my whole session twice a week for the last 3 weeks for a client who only has 20hours with me then goes home. In total I’m getting 8 hours of supervision a week with this one client and the whole time the bcba is either off camera, taking phone calls, yelling at her kids or camera off. I’ve never received feedback from her until this week. She asked why some goals haven’t been run and I said I was pairing/ building report with the client since they’ve been out of services for 4 months and their confidence was low so I was working on building tolerance. My bcba then emailed me after the supervision and said I would now have a schedule for the client to follow along with goals I should run during those times. I’m not the only rbt she’s done this for but it feels like I’m being micromanaged instead of being part of a team that’s supported. This bcba also calls me whenever with no warning and will stay on for the full 4 hour session killing my iPad before my next client. Prior to getting a caseload I did ask if there was a target number for goals like my last company and everyone said no. Has any one else experienced this or can anyone help me better understand what I should do?
