UK itinerary suggestion: Scotland vs England

Hi, we are visiting UK for the first time for 5 days in the end of June. We wanted a suggestion on what would be better to cover:

  1. Scotland — including the Scottish Highlands, Edinburgh, and the Isle of Skye. What would be the best scenic route to Skye?
  2. England & Wales — places like the Lake District, Cornwall, and parts of Wales.

Just for context, we love nature, hiking, mountains, meadows etc. So we’ve been slightly biased towards Scotland, but would love to know any inputs on this!

Also, what would the best way to cover either option: through a guided tour, trains or a self-driven rented vehicle? TIA!
