Beaverton Nissan changed the price of a truck during my negotiation — anyone else gotten the bait and switch before?

I wanted to share an experience I had with Beaverton Nissan to see if anyone else has run into something similar.

I reached out about a truck they had listed online and we agreed to an out‑the‑door price of $47,461.80 (photo 1). After confirming that number, I bought a plane ticket to fly in from out of state the next day.

Right after I booked the flight, the salesperson sent me a video — but it was of a completely different truck than the one advertised (photo 3). I called to clarify, assuming it was just a mix‑up. It wasn’t. I was told there was a mistake with the VIN # and the photos listed. At the time, I was willing to assume it was an honest mistake.

Even though I was understandably frustrated—having just purchased a plane ticket—I asked to see the numbers on the truck I was actually interested in (Photo 2) and was told it was going to cost more. While we were on the phone, I checked the listing again and noticed something odd: the price of the truck I was actually interested in (stock #TN64719) had changed price during our call.

I have timestamped screenshots showing the price going from $46,590 at 4:05 PM
to $48,540 at 4:24 PM (photos 2, 4, 5). Our call was from 4:12 PM to 4:39 PM, right in the middle of that window (Photos 6, 7). We had been in active negotiations that day since ~9:45 am.

The salesperson then offered a “$1,000 discount” off the new higher price — even though the truck had been listed for $46,590 just minutes earlier. So the “discount” wasn’t really a discount at all.

If this were just a website error, that would be one thing. But the timing makes it hard to ignore, especially since it happened while we were actively discussing the vehicle.

I tried to speak with the General Manager, but was told he had already left for the day. I’ve documented everything and will be sharing it with Nissan Consumer Affairs and any other appropriate channels.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this at a dealership? Curious how others handled it?
