RHCSA 10 - questions on one node completely ungraded
Hi all, firstly I would like to thank everyone on this sub for providing ideas and resources to prepare for the RHCSA exam. I'm currently a software developer, looking to move into devops. Having completed the CKA and CKS, I was looking for a new challenge.
I am a first-time poster, which sort of tells you how desperate I am to find an explanation for my situation.
Yesterday evening, I took the RHCSA 10 exam. I failed badly. It was a shock, see results below.
Exam domain number: 14
Passing score: 210
Your score: 111
Result: NO PASS
Performance on exam objectives:
OBJECTIVE: SCORE
Understand and use essential tools: 27%
Manage software: 75%
Create simple shell scripts: 0%
Operate running systems: 75%
Configure local storage: 75%
Create and configure file systems: 67%
Deploy, configure and maintain systems: 44%
Manage basic networking: 0%
Manage users and groups: 0%
Manage security: 0%
After the initial shock had subsided, I realised that it is possible that all my responses on node 1 were not graded. I remember that the shell on node 1 said 'root@clean' instead of 'root@node1', which was pretty strange to me, but I proceeded to do the questions, as nothing else seemed out of the ordinary. For example, the SElinux question already had the non-default configurations set. But then it seems pretty weird that I scored 0% on straightforward questions like managing users and groups. While not suggesting that I would have gotten full marks, I am very sure I know my stuff, I have been studying non-stop for the past 4 weeks.
I did spend 20 mins struggling with the interface at the start of the exam. I tried to ssh into node1, but was repeatedly denied access. When I raised it up with the proctor, he simply told me to "read instructions carefully". After 20 mins I realised that you were supposed to use the button menu on the top left to start the console of the individual nodes, and that is what I did for the remainder of the exam. No issues with node2, as the shell said 'root@node2' as expected.
So I have a few questions:
- Could it be that my tasks somehow never registered on node1, because i was on the 'root@clean' shell? And if that is the case, what should I have done instead
- Would it be worth raising this to red hat support, and should I just book my re-exam in the meantime while they resolve this anyway?
- The very first question, the networking question on node1, I was unable to do as well because the 'activate a connection' under nmtui did not show the device that should be configured. I did not know how to do it on nmcli (I do now), but just wondering if that could be a part of the mystery as well?
Thank you so much in advance
