Trying to bring my diastolic bp down by cutting out sugar

I’m on bp meds but despite this my bp in the evenings still sits slightly high 130/90s I’ve been on parking really hard with my lifestyle. Walking around 14k steps a day, no takeouts so it’s frustrating seeing those numbers on the evenings. The only thing that I could think of now is it may be my sweet treats. After my evening meal I tend to have something sweet with my green tea. Has anyone else noticed raised bp with a sweet snack? My next mission is to go on a zero sugar diet and see if that is my root cause. Let me know if cutting out sugar has helped you

Bp comes down only for a few hours whilst on medication

I’m currently on bp meds ( nifedapine 5mg)but I’ve noticed that bp only remains stable for a few hours and then mid afternoon my readings go up again often 130s/90s I usually have my evening dose at 7pm but I feel like my meds don’t give me the full day coverage. Do u think I should speak to my gp and ask them to review my dose?

Is my bp improving whilst on medication and lifestyle changes

So I’m currently taking nifedapine 5mg twice a day, this has recently been reduced from 10mg. I was originally taking nifedapine 10mg but because my readings were below 120s/80 my gp decided to reduce to 10mg in the morning, this raised my bp in the evenings to back up to 140s/90s so my gp decided to split the 10mg to 5mg bd. This has been working and when I check my bp a few hours after taking my meds my bp is usually below 120/80. Today I decided to check before taking my evening dose to see the difference and it was 130/95. I have made a lot of lifestyle and diet changes, I walk on average 14k steps a day and my bmi is below 30, not over weight but could do with loosing a few pounds. I’m trying so hard but sometimes feel so deflated when my bp is up again. It’s been 3 months since I’ve been trying, do you think i still have a long way to go before my numbers stay down. I have seen them come down a lot but they don’t seem to stay down I feel like they fluctuate a lot.

Bp has started to rise again after a few good weeks

I need some advice the last 2 weeks my bp has been amazing all number below 130/85. I’ve made lifestyle changes and walking on average 14k steps a day. I’m currently on nifedapine 10mg once a day was previously on twice a day but gp decided to cut down with my good readings. This week I have notice my diastolic slowly creep back up in the 90s again, I haven’t been consistent with my steps this week and it has been extremely hot in the uk temperatures at 32 degrees. I just feel a bit deflated I finally started seeing results and I feel like I’m going backwards. I feel like keeping bp down is real hard work and a few bad days and your back to where you started which isn’t fair :(

I’ve lowered my bp after 10 weeks

So last week I was asking advice on how to reduce my bp as I couldn’t seem to keep my diastolic number below 90s despite my efforts it’s been over a year trying! Well this last week has been good and I’ve seen my readings come down and stay down so I thought I’d share it as it might help someone. So it’s week 10 since I’ve incorporated flaxseeds (3 table spoons) chia seeds, pumpkin seeds for breakfast on my weetabix. I’ve been drinking fresh beetroot everyday. Walking 12-14k steps a day (I’m not overweight) and started isometric exercise (wall sits) 4 times a week which has helped a lot!. I’ve stopped my Losartan as it was making me feel terrible and only now taking nifedapine 10mg twice a day (gp approved). My readings have been consistently 120s/80s. I know it’s hard but consistency is key, every week i felt like giving up when i would see my numbers consistently raised but the feeling i got when they came down was priceless! I don’t exactly know what truly helped bring them down so i think it was overall everything that played its part. If I can do it so can you!

Raised blood pressure

I wanted some advice. I’m 34 years old and my bp has been raised it usually sits at 140/95 before meds. I’ve been put on medication from the gp. Currently on Losartan 25mg and nifedapine 10mg. Loasartan has been making me feel so lethargic and wiped out I feel terrible with it. I’ve been trying my best to bring my readings down. I’ve started walking on average 10k steps a day and added flaxseeds and chia seeds to my diet daily. I’ve noticed my diastolic reading is soo hard to bring down from the 90s no matter how hard I try. I wanted to know how long will it take with dietary changes to bring down my readings it’s been 8 weeks since I’ve made changes. And whilst taking my medication my reading are usually 128/90
