Let go on the last day of school and devastated
I’ve been working as a para at the same school for 2 years, my first para job. I am also the para who has been at the school the longest. I have great performance reviews and am great with the kids, but they lost para points and had to let someone go. I had the most absences, which were medically excused and have not missed any days since I’ve been out of the hospital. But it was up to our supervisor/VP to choose at her own discretion who to let go, and she chose me due to those absences. And she told me on the last day of school, 45 minutes into my day.
This seems so cruel to do on the last day. When most school staff are breathing a sigh of relief and getting to relax (which I expected to be able to do), I will have to be scrambling to find another job. I had to cancel my planned celebration for the last day of school tonight.
I really need support if anyone can offer it, I feel broken
