Who's a good breeder for super fluffy Tibetan Mastiffs?
Hello! I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but this was the only reddit community I could find that's specifically dedicated to Tibetan Mastiffs. I want to ask people who have personal experience who would be a good, ethical breeder for Tibetan Mastiffs that have the neck fluff referred to as a "lion's mane". The only info I could get online was from the ai search that pops up now, but it says either around 12k USD or like 1.5 MILLION USD and absolutely no in between, so it can't be accurate.
Here's some additional information on what kind of breeder I'm looking for:
-NO retailers or byb please! I take ethics and health very seriously and don't want to support harmful sellers.
-Ideally would have at least 3 positive reviews from buyers that have owned one of their pups for at least 2 yrs.
-Health screenings, veterinary recommendations, preforms background checks.
-Policy on how to handle rehoming back to the breeder or the breeder's approved people.
-Interogates me to confirm I'll be a good owner.
-Somewhere in the USA (west coast preferable but I'm willing to travel).
Some things to note about me as an owner:
-I have extensive experience with dogs. I've owned a dalmation, 2 aussies, a great dane, and a husky with extreme reactivity and resource guarding. I'm quite familiar with big dogs and behavioral issues.
-I'm not looking to buy immediately! I'm planning to wait a couple years, so I'm mostly looking to follow along with a breeder to observe how they operate.
-I have a semi-active lifestyle, enough for both ample exercise and couch potato time.
-I do lots of research before getting any animal. I learn about lifespan, diet, common health and behavioral issues, exercise and enrichment needs, ideal weather/temperature average, monthly cost, grooming needs, temperament, trainability, and what type of gear they need.
-I don't ignore problems. If i notice that my dog is limping, I take them to the vet. It's better to pay a couple hundred dollars to find out they have a pebble in their paw than to ignore a possible sprain or fracture.
-I ALWAYS spay/neuter my dogs at the appropriate time, which varies per breed. I don't do it too early, EVER.
I work from home, and decide my own schedule. My dogs always get the affection they deserve, whenever they want it.
Any advice and recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read all this :D
