Looking for multitool for car kit.

Looking for multitool for car kit.

Hello all, putting together this portable tool kit that I’ll be swapping between my cars depending on which one I’m driving. I’m looking for something on the smaller side with smaller being relative compared to say a Tool 300.

Requirements are that it must not add much weight to the kit and fit with everything else. Main focus are good quality pliers that can do anything from pulling fuses to unplugging stuck electrical connectors. Also have decent wire cutters built in.

Current top of list for me are the Skeletool CX or the powerpint but that’s only because that’s what Google said would work.

So I am here asking to see what all you would recommend knowing I don’t need something that has everything but rather something with less things but is really good at those things.

Thanks.

Icon G1 Ratchet Warranty Experie

Interesting situation with Harbor Freight and Icon over the weekend.

My 1/4” Icon ratchet (56188) finally gave up, so I went into the closest store from me to warranty it out (26 miles away). They told me they were out of stock, not expecting more because it’s being discontinued, and the next closest store that had one was another 25 miles further.

I asked what the process was since they couldn’t replace it locally and was told the only option was to return it for store credit and buy the G2 instead. The issue is I bought this ratchet on sale a while back, so they would only credit me what I originally paid, not current shelf price. Basically I’d have to pay the difference just to warranty a tool I already own.

Yeah, it’s only like a $15 difference, so it’s not the end of the world, but it also doesn’t really line up with how they market the whole “no hassle warranty” thing.

Curious if anyone else has run into this with discontinued Icon stuff.
