Turning Masonry Cut Nails into Cut Nails For Wood

Howdy gang- I am replacing a floor in a 1911 railcar and I want to use cut nails for the fasteners like it had originally. I realize you can buy specialty ones for wood, but if I can, I'd like to use up the abundance of masonry cut nails we have in the shop. I know masonry cut nails are of "hardened steel" but I was wondering if I heat them up (anneal) them, maybe they would soften? I get to do some blacksmithing today and I have horrifying plans involving a skillet full of masonry nails..

Also- does anyone have experiences with the cut nails they sell on amazon that purport to be for wood? Tremont's seems to be out of 6d's last I checked.

(Edit: evidently I was mistaken about availability of 6d cut nails from Tremont. It was never my intension to besmirch their reputation, and I'm ordering from them imminently.)
