Declined APS3 offer due to relocation

So I was merit pooled for an APS3 Service Officer role with Services Australia around August last year. About a month or so ago, I got a call being offered a face to face service centre role in my hometown, but I was 2 days away from relocating to another city (interstate), so I had to turn it down.

They said they understood, that they don’t discriminate or push someone away just because they moved and would put my name forward if positions are available in my new city. Basically was firmly reassured that this wouldn’t impact my chances.

I haven’t heard anything since (which I know is pretty normal), but I’m wondering if declining that offer has affected my chances as I’m sitting in some uncertainty. It would’ve been my first APS job too so I’m genuinely gutted with the timing of it all.

I’m also currently in three ATO APS2/3 merit pools since the end of last year where the positions are based in the city I live now, so I’ve still been applying for other roles besides sitting in the SA pool.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, or should I just treat that opportunity with services Australia as gone and focus on other applications/pools?

Appreciate any insight.
