Query on backdate on new style jsa
I am seeking advice regarding a New Style ESA claim. My SSP ended on 18 February 2026, and I have had continuous GP fit notes since that date. I did not realize I could claim new style ESA until now, so I am submitting my application today, 22 May 2026. My employer never provided an SSP1 form which I’ve now requested, and I am due to return to work on 1 June 2026. Because my application is slightly past the three month window, the online system is asking if I want to claim from 18 February.. I selected yes, after filling application I received a text to say that they will be in touch with up within 14 days. Will my claim for the backdated period be rejected because I am returning to work shortly or say I’m back at work and they contact me would they not consider backdating?
