Hi everyone, I’m in EMT school and we’re going to be doing vital signs pretty soon. I have a stethoscope from a while ago but it’s not very easy to listen to anything. Do you recommend any stethoscope that is worth the money? Obviously everyone turns to the littmann at some point but just want to see if there are any better options out there too. I’m also going to be in nursing school soon after the program is over so want something that’ll last the distance. Let me know thank you!

Hi everybody, just for context I am a 22 year old student who’s applying for nursing school and work at a hospital currently as a nurse assistant in surgery. My passion is definitely to go the emergency route and eventually be an ED nurse in the future for the hospitals in my area. Currently I want to get my EMT license and possibly work as an EMT at either a fire house or go 911. Don’t let my current job title fool you I don’t really do much in surgery as a nurse assistant other than clean up rooms and restock after so basically a glorified janitor. Knowing that I’ll be doing the long haul for nursing school of 2-3 years I want to apply these skills and don’t let them go to waste so I can get even more hands on by the time I finish. Just want some insight on what yall think I know I have a lot of time to process but just wanted a change of scenery and wanted to know if I’m wasting an opportunity being at a hospital versus going out in the ambulance. I did see that EMSTA was an option in Santee CA and was wondering if anybody has been through their program or knows someone who has and what their experience was going through it and what to really expect in their 8 week programs. Id love to get your insight on it and thank you!

Hi everyone just wondering if anybody has done the west coast EMT school in CA. I was looking to sign up but was wondering if I should do a 5 week accelerated course or if a 12 week night course was a better option. I work currently at a hospital 2 days a week thankfully but am willing to make adjustments to fit this in. Was wondering what you all thought about that and who have been through the program to steer me in the right direction to succeed. Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone, just wanted to throw this out there but for the people in this community that are aspiring nurses or are nurses and were an EMT before, did you work as an EMT through school and if so how did you do it? Hey everyone I was looking at jobs and saw trauma surgery NP at my local level 1 academic trauma center. I saw the description and it was talking about spending time in the trauma bay, and then even going into general surgery as an assist and even monitoring them in their admit to the ICU afterwards. Was wondering if there was anyone that is in trauma surgery as an NP and was seeing what that job entails? Super curious! Thanks everyone!
