Let's see how he will fare against Jacob DeGrom tonight. DeGrom is still a great starter, but he does give up the long ball a decent amount.
With only 11 pitches, he was on pace for an even stronger outing than Dylan Cease in his shutout
If a certain Jacob Misiorowski didn't pitch in the NL, Schwarber would essentially have 50-50 odds of being the first hitter to strike out more than the leading pitcher in their league (Sanchez has 151 K's and just had a start)
He is tied with Chase Burns, who is coincidentally also 11-1 with a 2.54 ERA despite being on a struggling Reds team.
Although he hasn't pitched that many games yet, Bennett has 14.11 P/IP, which would be 3rd in the MLB if he were qualified (just above Sonny Gray, who has also been quite efficient!). This is in part to a 99th percentile chase rate of 40.4%, 97th percentile walk rate of 4.5%, and 95th percentile ground ball rate of 53.5%. Getting outs is the main priority of a pitcher, and Bennett sure can get them fast.
Only less than 50th percentile in one category
At this point in the season, Willson is the 6th best hitter in the MLB by OPS, 4th in the American League. It is true that his OPS, which is .966 now, was lower, maybe .920 or so, when the ballots first came out, and he is still behind Rice and Kurtz in OPS. Not to mention Murakami's stellar start before injury. However, he should be right along with these players, especially since his fielding is better than the fielding of all the aforementioned 1B. NOT IN 6TH!
Not bad advanced metrics at all.
