I have a Z8, a Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4 and now a Nikkor Z 17-28mm f/2.8. I use it to shoot dogs.
I use AF-C, 3D tracking, animal subject detection.
I’ve found with both lenses, even though when shooting, the focus square is over one eye, and in playback it says it’s focussed on the eye, it never actually is. The eyes are generally really soft / out of focus but the nose/mouth is sharper.
See example image. Shot in f/4.5, 1/800, ISO 500. See focus square over the eye. The close-ups are in Lightroom at 100% where the eye is clearly not in focus.
I was expecting so much more! Is it a settings issue or a camera body fault?
