WYR: Current World or a Democratic Global British Empire?
Would you rather:
A) Current day history plays out as it did, with the world wars causing the huge decline of the British Empire.
OR
B) Britain and allies win both World Wars still but Britain comes out economically strong enough to maintain and expand its global influence. Slavery has already long been abolished, and over the 20th century the Empire gradually evolves into a more integrated, democratic, Commonwealth-style global federation with freer movement, unified trade, and coordinated international policy.
While its rise was ultimately built on cruelty and invasion and slavery (an understatement), the British empire was probably the closest the world will ever come to having a global empire.
On the one hand countries lose their independence, however a unified global government could potentially mean unified global incentives, less wars, and potentially faster global development.
Which world would you rather live in?
