I will preface by saying the venue was about 95 degrees inside and fairly miserable, but man oh man was I underwhelmed. They tore through about 6 songs in what seemed like the first 15-20 minutes, and were kinda just flat and boring. but what stood out to me was how many instrument changes Union Station was going through. Like a new banjo, mandolin, and guitar every song. I’m a jamgrass guy through and through, so when I see Billy or Greensky or Stringdusters or really anyone tear through an hour and a half set with maybe one or two instrument changes max, compared to Station changing every song, I just gotta know why? Is it a matter of “I’ve got 4 Martins back there and I want to play all of them” or are they just diva’s compared to the jam guys and expect their techs to re-tune and capo for them every time?
