Do you like being a lawyer?

I think I made a mistake going to law school (just finished 1L). I worked so hard to get in and was a family social worker prior so naturally I wanted to work in family law. Everybody I have talked to this year has basically told me to stay away from family law and that it’s miserable (including my profs who previously worked in family law).

I surprisingly did really well grade-wise and got multiple offers to work in Toronto firms. I get paid fairly well for a summer student and so far people seem nice here but I just feel like this entire thing is not for me. I kind of envy my friends who became teachers as they seem to enjoy their careers, get summers and holidays off etc… Is the actual practice of law better than the study? I absolutely hate law school and I am dreading going back in September. I found most of my classes extremely boring and the weird highschoolish behaviour from people was off putting (I’m a little older than most of my peers). On top of that quite a few people I have talked to (upper years and recent graduates) have said they haven’t been able to find articles even though they summered at firms. I kind of just want to apply to teachers college and call it a day but don’t want to make any rash decisions.
