Hi all,

I received the management pack for the share of freehold flat I am planning on buying and read that the group of owners are planning on replacing the roof soon. This was discussed during a meeting the management company had at the end of January. According to the minutes, each leaseholder will have to pay around £4500 for the roof replacement and I was not aware of this additional cost (and neither was the ea) until a few days ago. I spoke to the agent this morning and said that I would not be paying for the replacement seeing as it was a planned repair prior to my offer. The agent said that the sellers have agreed to cover the cost of my portion of the replacement in the form of an allowance to the management company. Essentially they will transfer the money to the company and say that it is for my portion of the replacement. Is this the done thing? I was planning on renegotiating my offer but is this considered a normal alternative? Thanks in advance
