reddit.comLPT: If you struggle to reply to messages, answer them the moment you mentally respond
A lot of people don’t ignore messages on purpose. They read them, think of a reply in their head, and then accidentally never send it.
Your brain treats “I know what I want to say” as completed even though the other person got nothing.
A simple fix: if your response is already formed in your head, send it immediately — even if it’s short.
Why this helps:
The longer you wait, the more pressure builds. A 30-second reply turns into “I replied too late,” then into avoiding the conversation entirely.
Most people are not expecting perfect replies. They just want consistency.
A few things that make this easier:
Send the short version first.
“LOL I’ll reply properly later” works better than disappearing for 3 days.
Don’t open messages when you’re busy unless it’s urgent.
Unread messages are easier to remember than “I’ll answer later.”
If you forget often, pin important chats or mark them unread.
Stop thinking every reply needs personality and effort.
Half of communication is just showing up regularly.
Small habit, but it saves friendships way more than people realize.
