Seedling buried by a squirrel and underground for 24+ hours, still bounced back

Shortly after my seedlings emerged, one of my containers got ransacked by a squirrel. Initially I couldn't find the seedling anywhere, so I chalked it up to a loss

It wasn't until the next day, when I went to go plant something else in the same container, that I found the sad, pathetic plant totally buried a few inches down. Roots were still largely intact but it was dry and brittle, and most of the leaves were dead/covered in dirt

Pic #1: I positioned the plant rightside up and seated it in the soil, clipping any dead leaves. The seedling straight up looked dead but there was a hint of green so I decided to see what would happen

Pic #2: almost a full month later, new growth emerging but still quite slow

Pic #3: about 2 weeks after pic #2, growth has exploded and the plant seems to have bounced back. Not really expecting much tbh, just treating it as an experiment, but I'm excited to see how she does when it comes time for flowering

Just a reminder not to give up... These plants are hardier than we give them credit for!

Seedling buried by a squirrel and underground for 24+ hours - still bounced back

Just wanted to share this as a reminder just how hardy these plants can be.

After my seedlings emerged, I was away from home for a few days. When I returned home, one of my containers had clearly been disturbed and dug up. The seedling was no where to be found. I just cursed my backyard squirrels and marked it up as a loss

It wasn't even until the next day, when I went to transplant something else into the container, that I found the sad little seedling buried in the dirt. It was very brittle and dry, but the roots still appeared intact and there was the slightest hint of green at the top of the stem.

So I decided, fuck it, I'll put it back in rightside up, clip off any dead leaves, and hope for the best (picture #1)

For weeks, almost nothing happened. It took almost a month to see any new growth, and even then it was incredibly slow and spindly (picture #2)

The last week or so, however, growth has exploded and the plant seems to have totally bounced back (picture #3)

I know some amounts of stress can be good for a plant... but honestly this plant was fucking tortured, so idk. At this point I'm treating it as an experiment, just to see how it does when it comes time for flowering
