Apologies for wrong flair, it was meant to be employment and it won’t allow me to change it.
Hi all,
England, I’m a male, aggressor is a female and head of department. NHS department.
I’ve been in the middle of a ongoing investigation,
A manager has verbally abused (screaming and swearing) at me, slapped my bum when I did something wrong, drags people by the collars and raises her fist when people start to disagree with her. I reported this in 2024 and was told it would be dealt with, the only thing that change was that this person stopped doing it to me. It is still happening to others.
The director has denied all knowledge in the past via email claiming I haven’t told them anything. In a recent meeting they’ve admitted to knowing about it and claims it has all been dealt with but cannot tell me what as it is private and confidential, my union reps are in agreement that I cannot push this further as it has been dealt with in a way the director feels was required.
I have stated it is still happening to others and I have been told that they have to come forwards themselves, I have repeatedly told them that this will not happen as people are scared of repercussions and they the ongoing consensus is that reporting will result in nothing but painting a target on yourself, I believed this for many years but then decided to report it and see what happens, it appears that it is being swept under the rug in a way that the union cannot argue so the general consensus was right.
After long term sickness due to this I have returned to work, in my 3rd week the directors have discussed changes to my job role that are “essential” going forward and if I do not comply they will go down performance management, so it seems like I now have a target on me.
I have spoken with HR, the union, freedom to speak up guardian (whistleblowing) and ACAS.
I don’t know where to turn but it doesn’t sit well that a large NHS trust is happy for this to happen as long as no one complains. What options do I have?
