Black metal inspired poem
Hi, I wrote this spontaneously. I'm French and most of the “poetic” English I know comes from Black Metal lyrics. A friend told me it reads like an elegy. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
As my leaden eyes gazed upon thy lithe figure,
a pale and fragile wraith assuaging my weary bones,
my grief fell silent, my wrath grew thin
a futile delusion, a rapture swift to die.
As the omen foretold, I reached thy silent abode
remnants of yore adrift, a wistful recollection.
An innocent age, all candor and soft‑spoken mirth;
The heavens stood before me, as I sealed my weary eyes.
The winding of time deceiving my feeble fate;
bereavement clutching deep into my hollow frame.
So oblivious, though a new dawn gathers at the rim,
I stand listless before the dimming of my twilight.
