Enjoying some scritches before I clean her cage. Day 32 of quarantine, only one more test to be cleared out before she moves to the big cage (rescue bird)

12 days since her rescue. Test for PBFD came negative!

This saturday we'll be back at the vet for the second battery of tests, but so far quarantine has been okay. The result being negative for PBFD was a huge relief! But there are still some tests to be done, such as Chlamydia. We still don't know if it's a male or female, but I think it's a girl. She's no longer silent like the first days, her and my male cockatiel spend all day chatting from the different rooms, hopefully quarantine will be a success and they'll get to meet face to face!

She's still eating mostly seeds, leaving the pellets untouched. But I'll keep trying to transition her to pellets and leave seeds only as snacks

Ideas on how to adapt this perch to bigger cage ?

About a year ago I made this perch from a guava tree branch, and it has become his favorite perch. But soon a new cage will arrive, and not only it's triple the length, but it also is 30cm wider, so this perch will be too short for it. But I don't him to lose this branch he loves so much, so I'm thinking about ways to adapt it to the bigger cage. Maybe there is a way to fixate it on one side only? Or a way to make it into a swing? (But how to hold it securely in a way he doesn't chew through the support?) Posting here in hopes that someone might have a crafty idea!

He's singing to our rescue bird

Days ago, I posted about the bird we rescued from a tree. While she/he is quarantined in my bedroom, my male tiel has been singing to her (and she responds, if you really pay attention you can hear her calls in the video, although his song is drowning out most of it)

A few days ago I posted here asking for advice to get a cockatiel down from a tree, and after 4 hours under the sun we managed to rescue her. We searched for people missing a cockatiel but so far haven't found the people who lost her. We did find one person looking for a missing tiel, but it was a gray one (and it broke my heart seeing the video he sent of the tiel on his lap whistling to him. I have a gray tiel myself and can't bear to think of losing him)

Her poop test came back negative for parasites, and we're waiting for results on the PBFD test. Next vet visit I want to get her tested for Chlamydia and other common diseases, specially ones that could contaminate my tiel. Currently she's in quarantine in my room, and everytime I leave it I take a full scrub shower and change clothes, so I'm mostly taking care of her in the morning as I wake up, and early evening after I get home from work. I asked my mother to handle changing my tiel's food and water, to reduce any chance of contamination even after my scrub routine

In the last few days, the two cockatiels seem to be chatting from afar. If we don't find her owners, after quarantine is cleared, we'll adopt her and introduce them to each other

I heard a cockatiel near my home, and the little buddy is lost. He is in a tree, a good 4-5 meters height. I put water and seeds on the ground and played sounds of my own tiel to try to lure him. A little earlier I got a closer look, he seems to be very debilitated and is napping right now

Edit: he's safe now! Got him and took him to a vet. We did lots of tests and now he's in quarantine away from my tiel. After the vet visit, I went to a pet store buy him a cage. Due to the time (it was late afternoon/early evening when we left the vet) only big chains were open and they are very expensive. This coupled with the vet bills being 1/5 of what I earn in a month, I could only afford a small cage, but at least he doesn't doesn't have to sleep in the tiny travel cage we put him in at first. It's only temporary and since my tiel is getting a 5" long cage soon, our rescue bird might even inherit his cage before quarantine is over, which should be more comfortable.

We're trying to find his owners, but if don't, we'll adopt him if he's cleared from quarantine. Then we'll slowly introduce each other with the goal of both eventually sharing the big cage I bought online, which would allow plenty of space for them when they're not on supervised out of cage time (which can usually happen on weekends)
