ICA or ACAMS certification?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice regarding KYC/AML certifications.
I started my KYC career around 3 years ago. I first worked in seller onboarding and later moved into a KYC Analyst role. I currently live and work in Spain, and I’m trying to decide which certification would make the most sense for my career progression.
I’ve been looking mainly at ACAMS and ICA certifications, but the prices are quite high, so I want to make the right choice before investing.
At the moment, I’m leaning more towards ICA because I’m based in Spain and most of the companies I’d potentially work for are European rather than US-based. However, I also see ACAMS mentioned very often internationally and on LinkedIn/job posts.
For people working in Europe/Spain:
- Which certification is more valued by employers?
- Has ICA been enough for career progression?
- Is ACAMS still considered “better” even in Europe?
- If you had to choose only one, which would you pick?
Would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks!
