Sad Southern Wax Myrtles

Looking for help getting these newly planted 30-gallon Southern Wax Myrtles looking happy and healthy again. They were planted 2 months ago and are considerably thinner than when we got them (see before and after pics). We also added Root and Grow stimulator when they were planted. They have healthy-looking green leaves at the tips, but mostly bare stems. I Chatgpt’d a diagnosis and suggestions and it mentioned they may not be getting enough water or are overheating due to the surrounding rocks. Any suggestions?
