The long walk through Romashka, in to the outskirts itself is a huge pain. Is there a better way in?

Just got the game and coming in from ITR1

I’ve just started and am loving the game so far, but I have some questions!

1. Can I draw weapons that are holstered on my backpack? I realized somewhere last night that I couldn’t holster a long gun over my shoulder like in ITR1, so I tried slapping a holster on various spots on the backpack but can’t seem to draw the weapon. Will I have to wait for a better rig that allows holsters on the back?

2. Does sleeping no longer heal? If so, are there any options outside of the shower and using consumables to heal once I return to base?

3. There are these little sponge/coral like things that I see growing everywhere. They can be grabbed but seem to disintegrate once they’re in my hands. Do they do something?
