For context, I am a 4th year college student majoring in a bachelor's for Electrical Engineering Technology. I have to take one more year of classes before I graduate. I have been very nervous about job searching as I am still unsure of where I should start with gaining my professional experience.

My dream career is to be a Programmer/Designer in the video game industry; however, I am not fully confident in my capabilities in the realm of game design to fully pursue it. Nearly all of my game development experience (coding, modeling, animating, level design, etc.) has been self-taught in my free time with my main motivation to continue improving being my passion for the industry.

For the time being, I am trying to break into any entry-level Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering jobs to help me gain some professional experience. I have only been in one job, which is as a Part-Time Health and Wellness Associate for a grocery store since 2020 (which is where I still currently work).

Ideally, I would like to work locally or remotely, so that I can still focus on finishing school. Once I do finish, I will be much more willing to relocate.

I have heard many different, and sometimes opposite, pieces of advice regarding what to put on my resume. Such as "Don't include anything that doesn't pertain to the job you are applying for," which makes sense to me but then I'll hear from somewhere else "You should put a larger variety of skills in your resume, even some that don't exactly pertain to the job as it helps you stand out from the competition," which also makes sense but goes against the previous point. How do I present myself as varied and unique without being off topic from the job description?

My main request for advice on my resume is how can I make it more professional and tailored to the job market of software/electrical engineering?
