I recently got accepted into a composition program in college and I've been having some difficulties composing. Since music in general is a new field for me (although I've played piano for about a year), I've been having trouble with deadlines and musical ideas. The main ones, I'd say, are:
- Transferring my musical ideas to paper/Muse Score.
- Comparing myself to bigger pieces instead of working with the references that i like.
- Perfectionism and anxiety to finish a musical piece.
It's also happened a lot that I simply insert random notes that sound good to complete a composition that looks presentable, instead of creating something personal that has my essence. I don't usually post on reddit for help, so i'm sorry if something is not clear enough.
