How is this even possible?
I’m a cyclist who used to do races. I still compete, but just virtually. Being CC has been one of the most important parts of my growth as an athlete. But I’ve missed out on many, many races I used to do because it’s not safe. My town has a vibrant cyclist community I just started to get into when I moved here in late 2019. I connected with a great group, and I haven’t seen them in years.
That’s all completely gone, yet it seems like despite people’s 5th, 6th, or 10th infection they’re fine. This event is case in point. Marathons are not easy. I have family who still do them even in their 50s. It blows my mind how records continue to be set for people attending.
