Leak at collar joint
Hey, all. Every year I open my pool, I have a battle with the same leak, and it's going to break me this year! I feel like the design of this particular joint is poor, or I'm missing something...
I get a significant leak under the collar at this connection between the output of the salt cell and the returns to the pool. There's no hard connection; it's just a contact connection, with a rubber o-ring in the groove on the ABS side, which is correctly in place.
The issue (I believe) is that this joint isn't level. See third pic. No matter how much I wiggle with the available flex of either the return pipes or the salt cell, there's no level and flush connection. Every year, I battle with multiple attempts at a perfect connection, and I usually have to really crank the collar to make it work. No luck finding a tight seal so far this time.
Any suggestions on how this could be addressed more permanently? Is there a better plumbing solution, or am I missing an easier solve here? Thanks!
