Suppressor Host Handgun Choice
Research is one thing but community opinion is arguably more valuable.
I'm in the market for a new 22LR pistol. When I was first getting into guns I bought a glock 44 so I'd have one for varmint and to have a low recoil option for range days with my wife.
However, in the land of $0 tax stamps, I'm now in suppressor territory and have an RXD22TI on the way. I have a rifle that'll be its main host, but now want a pistol with a threaded barrel to use with it.
My main uses are the same, varmint and a cheap range day option. Eventually I'll teach my sons to shoot with this too.
Main requirements are threaded barrel and optic-ready platform. An ancillary preference is for the gun to be all black, but I see guys post awesome colors on here so I'd be open-minded on this if I saw something I liked. I'm budgeting around $400 but could squeeze closer to $600 for the perfect gun. That's platform only before optic and can.
My current frontrunners based on research are the Taurus TX22 Gen2 TORO and the Ruger Mark IV Threaded Bull. I have done some research on the bull barrel thing and my instinct is that the heavier barrel would help with balance when the can is on. Note: I would not be installing an FRT on the Taurus.
I'm only very slightly concerned with having "too much Ruger" in my lineup. I have a ruger precision rimfire and a ruger precision rifle in 6.5 creedmoor and am also looking into a new EDC 9mm, and my current pick for that is the RXM, so if I went with the Mark IV then every platform except my AR15 would be Ruger.
I do know the Glock 44 has a threaded barrel out there but I'm seeing $200+ for it. Theoretically open to this if there's a good case for it but my current plan/preference is to sell the glock and replace it with the new gun.
Question is: between the two, what's your pick and why?
Alternatively: what's something I missed that I should look into to compare?
