I just received a renewal notice from the MVD for one of my vehicles, and while I was renewing online, I saw this notice:

"Note: As of July 1, 2026, base passenger vehicle registration fees will increase by 25%.

Customers renewing before July 1 will still be charged the current fees."

Is anyone else aware of this? I haven't seen anything on the news about it.

This all seems a little Texan to me. Does anyone know the reasoning behind it?
