addressing the student

this is a bit of a rant, but I teach students who speak my native language and want to learn english, so I often end up talking to them in both languages. In english, it is totally acceptable to refer to others as “you”, but in my language there is a much stronger expectation to call anyone older than you sir/ma’m. So i just find it awkward when I have to refer to them in my language, as idk which form to use. Anyone else?

is using preprly’s materials during trial lessons frowned upon?

a lot of the time, when i run out of questions to ask the students but need to fill in the time, i turn on preply’s prepared materials. for my actual students i tend to prepare my own, but since I don’t know the trial student, I can’t make exercises based on their interests. is this something that turns students away from me?

underage tutor

i'm currently 17, turning 18 very soon. I need to verify to withdraw my funds. Can I still make money and just withdraw it when I'm 18? Or will they notice i turned 18 after having done lessons, and not let me withdraw what I made?
