Insertional achilles tendonitis from overstrecthing on calf board
Hello,
I have had issues for a long time with my left leg to to old ankle break in 2018. I have tight calves and most likely weak hips due to changed biomechanics. I have also had to quit my running hobby.
A few months ago I bought a calf board hoping it would make my calves more loose. I started using it regularly, multiple times every day. And it seemed to work. Each time that I stretched my calves it seemed as if my legs (both of them) felt better and more loose.
This encouraged me to start doing really long stretching sessions on the board, something like 8 minutes of continuous stretching.
But after a while I started having issues on my right achilles (my right leg had been the "good" leg so far with no issues at all). At first I ignored the issues and continued streching thinking it was nothing serious. But then the issues started to get worse so I quit streching alltogether. As of today I have not done any calf stretching in 4-5 weeks.
But the issues have not gone away. The pain is not unbearable as I can walk with it. But it is a constant pinching sensation in the achilles tendon where it attaches the calcaneus bone.
I have tried to do the regular exercises that are typically used for this ailment such as isometric holds but they seem to aggravate the issue more than helping it.
Has anyone else suffered from insertional achilles tendonitis from overstretching the calf muscles?
