Something I noticed after going through a lot of B2 writing samples.
The production écrite is worth 25 points, same as every other skill. But it's the one where candidates leave the most points on the table, not because their French is weak, but because of three structural habits that almost always show up.
1. The opinion comes too late
The examiner knows within two sentences whether you have a clear position. A lot of candidates spend the whole introduction contextualizing and only commit to a view in the conclusion. By then it's too late. State your position in the first paragraph, then build the argument.
2. Arguments without examples
"Les réseaux sociaux ont un impact négatif sur la santé mentale" is not an argument at B2 level, it's a claim. An argument needs something concrete behind it, a statistic, a situation, a comparison. One real example beats three vague points every time.
3. Connectors used as decoration
"Tout d'abord... ensuite... enfin..." is not structure, it's a list with French words in front of it. Real cohesion means each paragraph builds on the previous one. The examiner is specifically scoring for this on the coherence criterion.
None of these are vocabulary problems. They're method problems, which means they're fixable fast once you know what to look for.
