"Where is Medusa, her secretive eyes?"
I wonder aloud as my body dies
For flesh is turned into hardening stone
Before I can breathe, my spirit is gone
The Gorgon's lair seems to swallow me whole
Gripping me tight in her serpentine hold
For statues stand where I once felt alive
Transforming faster the harder I've tried
Her laugh echoes faint in depths of my mind
Kissing my days of the sunlight behind
Anguish and granite become as my skin
As feelings grow numb, as stillness sets in
She must have stolen my wandering gaze
I do not remember; the past a haze
No longer familiar with who I am
As with frozen limbs and soul do I stand
O Crusher of Serpents, Medusa's Bane
Forgive me for using Your gift in vain
Arrest the creeping of rock in my heart
Or at least from this shell, do not depart
