Blue screen of death and couldn’t fix itself, pretty sure gpu’s dead

Not quite sure about my specs but it’s an old gaming tower my grandpa had for a long time that he gave to me and I’d prefer to not lose it, I wanted to ask if anything could be done for it before we look for a repair shop.

Basically it at first was just rainbow square glitches all over the screen without effecting useability of the pc and then it would restart good as new! I thought it was just a quirk of the pc being old but today it refused to boot into the pc at all and we can’t get it looked at for the next few days so that’s not great. I looked into the glitch and saw that people said it was caused by the gpu dying and I don’t really know what to do with that.

So am I just gonna have to give up and hand it over to a repair shop? I don’t have any experience in this but I am very paranoid at anything breaking so I haven’t moved a single inch of this stuff in years. Anxiety is kinda rooted in me right now.
