Every doctor, dermatologist, esthetician, etc is always talking about how important it is to wear sunscreen on your face/neck every day. And on the surface I understand it. But what I don’t understand is, how much does that really work when you take lifestyle factors into consideration? For example: I live in NYC and work a desk job. I put my daily spf on before I leave the house, am exposed to the sun outside for about 10/15 mins between my walk to the subway then my walk to the office, somedays I’ll leave and go pick up lunch, but many days I stay inside until 6pm. Never once do I reapply my sunscreen and of all my friends/family/coworkers who are very diligent and/or have very involved skin care routines, none of them reapply either. Yet we all know that sunscreen wears off after 80 mins or so. Can someone help explain the actual benefit of this?
ETA: no doctor/dermatologist/esthetician has ever stressed that I should be reapplying daily sunscreen (even though I know that’s how it works), which is why I was wondering about this.
