What are your thoughts on this video, about how basic math education was much simpler long ago than it is today?

It's a long but interesting video. Janae Daniels compares her own kids' public school textbooks to some from the 19th century. The old books are much thinner and more to the point, while the new ones are portrayed as confusing.
