Clinic paying admin time for “watching” aggressive client
I’m a newer RBT who has only ever been at one clinic. At our clinic we get two kinds of pays, one for providing ABA and the other (which is substantially less) for things such as assigned chores, organizing toys and rooms, etc. The issue is that we have recently received a new client who arrives and leaves over the allotted therapy time we can provide and our managers are scheduling us to “watch” the client (without placing any demands or providing any kind of ABA) while receiving admin pay the first and last 30 minutes of everyday. I’ve heard this is due to the client living far away and having strict pick up and drop off time that cannot be altered. While I don’t agree with this idea, managers are scheduling us to watch our eldest, strongest, newest and most aggressive client for admin pay. I had a coworker finally quit last week after during this “watching time” when they got hit several times while the client was in disruption. Is this common elsewhere? I feel like my coworkers and I are being taken advantage of…
