Travel Japan solo

Hello everyone,

I am flying out to Japan this Thursday and staying until the end of the month. The trip is split 50/50 between Osaka and Tokyo (Shibuya). I plan to take day trips to Kyoto, Hiroshima, and other cities around Tokyo. I have already booked several activities, such as the Mt. Fuji bus trip, Universal Studios (with Nintendo World), Skytree, and Shibuya Sky.

However, I was just informed today that my buddy, who was supposed to go with me, won’t be able to make it. He had an immediate emergency that will essentially prevent him from traveling for quite some time.
With that being said, my options have changed: I can either go alone, try to rebook with a different friend group in July (which would likely cost an extra $2,000 in flight upgrades alone, not to mention hotels), or wait a year or more to book again.

I’ve tried to learn as much Japanese as possible and even studied it years ago. To be fair, I’m not fluent enough to hold a full conversation, but I understand parts of it. I’ve also researched Japanese culture heavily to ensure I’m being respectful.

Is it worth it to go alone, or should I just end up waiting?
