32 MALE U.K. - is this a hypertrophied anal papillae?

32 MALE U.K. - is this a hypertrophied anal papillae?

Hi, first off apologises in advance for this horrendous photo.

I have no blood, but this annoying thing does prolapse pretty easily.

I’ve had it checked by a doctor and a specialist a few years ago, and both said it was fine, but didn’t say what it was. They also didn’t make any plans to remove it. I was so relieved the sigmoidoscopy was clear that I didn’t think to ask why.

At first I thought it was a polyp and then became terrified, but now I’m not so sure. It doesn’t seem to have a stalk, and its location is also making me think papillae.

I have a follow up doctor’s appointment in a few months time (waiting lists are crazy right now) so I’m just looking for some insight and hopefully reassurance.

Dr found 1 polyp but did not remove it - looking for advice (and comfort!)

Around 3 years ago, I had a pedunculated polyp that would occasionally prolapse (I'm sorry if TMI!).

I saw a general doctor who did an examination, and said it looked completely healthy to her (she was able to see it due to it being so close to my anus). She referred me to a specialist just to be sure, and I had a colonoscopy. All came back fine, he said everything looked very healthy.

I was so relieved I forgot to ask why they didn't remove the one polyp that was found. It does cause some discomfort so I would like it removed. I've chased this now but the system takes a while.

The polyp is very small, it is pedunculated. What I find strange is that the head is white - has anyone else had anything like this? Was it a polyp at all, or something else? I'm reassuring myself that 2 professionals have seen it and both said it was fine, but I'd love to hear any other experiences. I've had it for around 5 years, and it has not changed since then.

Thank you!
