Pushy Drug Reps
I round in facilities plus keep clinic hours. There is a particular drug rep who stalks me at a facility. They never arrange a meeting time, waste time that could be spent with patients, and have the audacity to tell me which one of my patients would benefit from their drug. They poked the wrong bear today. I firmly stated that it was unethical for a drug rep to assess a patient and determine they were appropriate for the drug they are marketing. They of course played it off and blamed the nursing staff. How would you handle this? Backstory, I have trended declining GFRs on nearly every patient this is trialed on and discontinued the drug. FDA insert explicitly states that impact on renal impairment was not studied. This rep acts like I’m making my clinical observations up. At the conclusion of our visit, I told them I was going to prescribe their competitors med! 😏
