Lightweight web-based genome browser (gene-scope) – looking for feedback
Hi everyone,
I'm a software developer who recently got interested in genomics and genome annotation workflows.
I've been experimenting with building a small web-based genome browser focused on lightweight track visualization and collaborative annotation concepts.
Current prototype features include:
- GFF3 annotation tracks
- SVG/tile-based rendering
- multi-track workbenches
- experimental collaboration ideas
- stable track layouts while navigating
Short demo video (E. coli):

Live prototype:

You can try the demo datasets by clicking on E. coli or Yeast.
I'm mainly trying to find out whether this kind of workflow/tool would actually be useful to people working with genomic annotations.
What are your biggest frustrations with current genome viewers or annotation workflows?
(Prototype only: please don’t upload sensitive data.)
Thanks for any honest feedback.
