The infection (part 2)
It’s been 3 days since my last post. Things have only gotten worse. I’ve learned that the zombies are only active at night. They start what I call the hunting period at 7pm each night.
Last night, the worst thing ever happened. The house was breached. Now the house, my house, is no longer safe.
Last night, I heard knocking at the front door, with ear piercing screams of terror from someone begging to be let in, muffled through the attic floor and walls. The time, 6:59. I knew that by the time I got to the door, they would’ve started hunting. So, I stayed put.
The screams then began to get louder. The person at the door getting more desperate. I think I heard them start to cry. Then their screams of desperation became those of pain. Guilt washed over me in constant waves.
The moans of the dead got louder. That person led them straight to me! NO! I heard a window break. A window broke! Oh god, they were in the house!
I began to hear thumps coming from downstairs. The dead were pouring in! The chorus of the zombies grew louder and louder and louder.
My heart was beating double time.
I heard thumps on the stairs. The STAIRS! They were coming up, towards me! A sudden and jarring cacophony of noise emanated from downstairs. Bang, smash, crash. They were destroying the house.
Suddenly, a loud smash came from the hallway below me. Then, a few thumps as something wooden fell down the stairs, followed by a sudden group of cries of pain and shock from the dead that were at the bottom of the stairs. Welp, there goes the mirror.
Through all of this, all I could do was lie in the attic silently, thoughts buzzing around my head like a swarm of bees. I had to leave the house. I had to escape. My only option was to drive. It’s the apocalypse, who’s going to care? My parents had electric cars, but there was no power. Then I remembered…
My sister. She has a petrol car. I can use it to escape. There may be no power, but there has to be petrol. I’m going to leave tomorrow. I have no choice. Again, I pray that someone finds this. Hope, any hope, would really help. My sisters car is a blue Honda accord. License plate: LMT 8623. Any survivors in Ireland, please make yourself known.
