what scam detection software is worth using before it turns into a chargeback or fraud headache
we've been dealing with a slow drip of fraudulent orders over the past few months and it's starting to add up. not catastrophic but enough that i'm now looking at what tools exist to catch things earlier in the process rather than dealing with the fallout after the fact.
most of what i've found so far is either enterprise level pricing that doesn't make sense for a small operation or basic stuff that just checks email addresses and calls it a day. i'm somewhere in the middle, small ecommerce setup, no dedicated IT or fraud team, just me and a couple of people trying to stay on top of it.
what are people in here using, whether that's something built into your payment processor, a standalone tool, or a broader security suite that covers fraud detection as part of a wider package. i've seen some of the all in one security platforms starting to move into this space which is interesting but i don't know how well they actually hold up against more specialized fraud tools.
what features have actually made a difference for you, is it the real time flagging, the pattern recognition, the identity verification side of things? trying to figure out what actually matters before i commit to anything.
