I’ve been testing different language-learning tools recently and noticed most of them are great at vocabulary drills but terrible at helping with actual conversations.

The weird part is I can often read a language better than I can understand native speakers talking naturally. Once people speak fast, connect words, or use casual expressions, everything falls apart.

For people who’ve successfully learned a second language, what actually helped you move from studying a language to genuinely following conversations comfortably?
