Who is your underrated player from your favorite NWSL team?
Ella Hase - Racing Louisville
She’s a left footed winger who is fast, technically good on the ball and can use both feet (unlike Sears). She is constantly overlooked for the things she does on the field. Her defensive skills are excellent. Her pressing is excellent. Her crosses are beautiful. However, she doesn’t have the stats so she’s non existent in the transcripts of all podcasts and announcers. Hence Racing’s brilliant win over Portland.
Both goals were a result of Hase being on the field. Hase beating her defender and crossing in a beautiful ball that Millet should have tapped in but luckily found the foot of O’Kane. Goal one. Goal two was a result of Hase getting fouled by Hiat causing the PK. She does all the things required of a good soccer player and gets zero recognition every game. I get it. Goal scorers rule get all the attention. However, it’s unfair to forget how we got there. It also doesn’t help that NWSL announcers have their biases and God forbid they have to learn new names. It’s so bad that during one of our games the announcer called Hase Sears because they switched sides and Hase was on the right where Sears plays. Once again she didn’t get the credit, Sears did.
