How are you spending your Independence Day?
Perhaps most importantly, what are you cooking/eating? What fireworks are you blowing up or watching?
No politics, please.

What if instead of federal congress doing the voting on legislation, the state’s deliberated within their own state congress and their speakers cast the federal vote, replacing the need for federal representatives? Open to ideas how the proposing of legislation under this construct would work.
Since the polling consistently shows no one likes federal congress, and state congressional representatives are better connected with their local communities, maybe we should give them a shot? You can assume that we somehow got past the constitutional restrictions on this and focus more on the practical challenges and benefits in execution.
Edit: I caused some confusion - you’re still voting for your all your representatives, including president, I’m just saying federal congress no longer exists.
Where do you draw that line, if any? Does the distinction matter?
I’ve seen many responses on here to the effect that conservatives use the vote as their voice as opposed to protest, grass roots org, etc. Do any of you do something else to express your displeasure / support between elections such as writing / calling your elected officials, town halls, etc.?
